Timothy Booth

About Me

Timothy W. Booth has been on the Canadian music scene for over 20 years, performing with a wide-array of groups in the Montreal and Toronto areas. He has played with orchestras including the Orchestra London, the Hamilton Symphony Orchestra, Montréal Symphony Orchestra, the Metropolitan Orchestra, and l'Opéra de Montréal, The National Ballet Orchestra, The Canadian Opera Company Orchestra, Orchestra London, Sherbrooke Symphony, Windsor Symphony, Amadeus Choir, Intrada Brass and many other diverse ensembles. An eclectic musician, Tim has also performed with a series of stars including Aretha Franklin, George Burns, Placido Domingo, José Carreras, Lucianno Pavarotti and John Pizzarelli and progressive rock group Yes Tim has also played with such big bands as the Vic Vogel Big Band as well as the Freeflight Band and is currently a member of the Greg Runoins Big Band and is the founder of the Toronto Art Orchestra In Montreal, Tim was bass trombonist for Les Misérables, The Phantom of the Opera, Kiss of the Spider Woman and Jeanne La Pucelle. In Toronto, he has played tuba and bass trombone as a substitute for the productions of Beauty and the Beast, The Phantom of the Opera, Miss Saigon, Showboat, and Ragtime. Tim is now branching out into a film music composition career and has done the music for several films, including Happiness on a String, Red Pepper and Man on the Moon and is currently working on some animated shorts. In Aug. 2006 Tim won the Indie Gathetring Film Scoring Comp. In Cleveland Ohio.Tim Joined the Guild of Canadian Film Composers in Jan. 2005 and is a member of SOCAN as well as the A. F. of M. Happiness on a String and Red Pepper were screened at the Starving Film Festival in July 2005. Man on the Moon was screened at Cannes Film Festival in May 2005. Tim studied at the University of Western Ontario and McGill University as well as the Banff School of Fine Arts under the Canadian Brass. In 2003, Tim participated in and composed works for the Jazz Orchestra Workshop with Hugh Fraser and Rufus Reid at the Banff Centre. He has also studied with trombonists Alain Trudel, Christian Lindberg, Norman Bolter and Murray Crew. Tim plays Bass Trombone, Tenor Trombone, Euphonium or Baritone and Tuba.
