David Leikam is a San Francisco-based composer, creative, designer, improviser, and
bandleader of the industrial jazz unit zBug. Being born with cerebral palsy has affected his
body and speech, given him a distinct view into his creative arts/music and being largely a
self-taught multi-instrumentalist performer. His first piano solo studio performance was
recorded at age 16 in January, 1988. From then to 1994 and later (1999 to 2006), David and
the arts collective Friday Night Music would gather most every Friday evening for several
hours to record a hour’s worth of direct to two track improvisational music (reel to reel,
cassette, DAT, CD, HD) in a professional music studio at Dragon Studios in Redwood City, CA
then later at the Music Annex in Menlo Park, CA ending their run at private recording studios
throughout the San Francisco Bay Area (1979 to 2006).
