Jana La Sorte is the founder and president of Janlyn PR, an independent agency which specializes in jazz and world music. She has advised clients on PR, marketing and events for over 20 years. She created the long-running Ask the Experts two-day mentoring panel for the former IAJE jazz conferences, she has moderated music panels for the CMJ Music Marathon and Telluride jazz festival and has guest lectured at the New School, Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, Kennedy Jazz Center, George Washington University and Seton Hall University among others. Formerly a board member of the Telluride Jazz Society, she also served on the board of advisors of the Jazz Foundation of America, for which she provided pro-bono PR services. As a programmer, she co-created and co-produced a New York City music series featuring young jazz artists. She has direct experience with media, having served for three years as the host and producer of an arts TV show in New Jersey and as a college radio DJ for four years. She was an alto saxophonist.
