My Jazz Story
I love jazz because of its sound. Because of its creativity. Because of its history. And because of its mystery. I was first exposed to jazz in a rocking chair next to the stereo. I was playing with the knobs. I've met John Faddis, Marvin Stamm, Rufus Thomas, Maynard Ferguson. The best show I ever attended was James Brown. Twice. The first jazz record I bought was Duke Ellington - Primping at the Prom, on cassette tape. My advice to new listeners is to listen to what you like. And, listen to a little bit of what you don't like (yet). Shape Jazz. Listen.
