Born in 1961, I was 'invited to leave' school at the age of fifteen, a request I was happy to comply with, lacking formal qualifications.
I graduated from Oxford in 2000 as what was laughably called a mature student (oxymoronic, right?) with a BA (Hons) in Modern History. Since then I've been writing and teaching aspects of African American Social History.
