Melissa Talley-Palmer
I'm an administrative assistant with Philadelphia Jazz Project and I enjoy creating an environment where people can enjoy dancing and listening to music.
About Me
I have over fifteen years experience as an Administrative Assistant and Education Program
Manager in non-profit Community Arts and Education with The Village of Arts and Humanities
and Art Sanctuary. In addition, I worked as a Secretary, Tax Examiner and Clerical Unit
Manager with Internal Revenue Service during the early stages of my career.
Consequently I have years of leadership training with Franklin Covey, Be Present, Inc., and
Essential Experience through which I continue to develop organizational skills. As the
Administrative Assistant to the Director of the Philadelphia Jazz Project, Homer Jackson I am
excited to continue putting my skills into practice.
My studies include: Business Administration at Indiana University of Pennsylvania; Secretarial
Science at Pierce Junior College; A certificate in Arts Administration from the Pennsylvania
Council on the Arts. I served as an intern with Point Breeze Performing Arts Center and
Brandywine Art Center.
In 2007, I wrote, produced and performed my first stage play entitled “Let Not Your History Be
A Mystery, Breaking the Silence of Molestation” with funding through Leeway Foundation’s
Arts & Change Grant. In my leisure I enjoy taking dance classes in Praise dance, Bop, Cha Cha
and Strand which is among my many hobbies. When I'm not spending time enjoying family
and friends, community organizing, event planning and travel, I enjoy teaching dance classes.
