Don Pulver

I am an Artist/painter/designer

About Me

Don Pulver started dreaming of being an artist at a very young age. Upon graduation from the Kansas City Art Institute, he turned his dream into a career, working as a designer/illustrator for several national publishing, advertising and catalog firms. In 2000, he left the commercial art field to pursue a full-time fine arts career as a painter. Jazz musicians are a favorite subject as are seaside scenes. He has exhibited his work extensively in Minnesota, where he made a name for himself in the art world. His paintings can be found in private and corporate collections. Now a resident of Florida, Don has developed a passion for the natural beauty of the Gulf coast, which he interprets on his canvases using a vivid palette of colors.

“For me the whole creative process is exciting--from developing the concept, composing the image, mixing the paints and then brushing layer upon layer of color until I'm satisfied that the image is complete to my creative satisfaction,” he relates. “I love interpreting and developing whatever my eyes see or my mind envisions, as well as the creation of new visions. If I were to create the same concept tomorrow, it would end differently because each day I capture a bit of that moment's magic. Each painting is a new learning experience, a new experiment and wonderful visual magic. And in that sense, at least, I share the aesthetic joys of a jazz musician.”
