My Jazz Story

I love jazz because... because it is music that speaks to the soul. I was first exposed to jazz in London at the Ronnie Scott's Club when I saw Chick Corea perform. I met [musician name] Bunny Brunel The best show I ever attended was CAB concert in 2014 at The World Famous Baked Potato. The first jazz record I bought was Herbie Hancock Head Hunters My advice to new listeners grab a cup of coffee, recline in your favorite chair, and dim the lights. Try all the jazz styles to see which one(s) resonate. Go on youtube and check out music from all the different styles of jazz, so you have something to compare. Or whatever else you have in mind. Keep an open mind. Just know that jazz is an art form. It's not pop. It is a medium that incorporates modal improvisation (no matter how simple or complex). If it doesn't have those elements, it's probably not jazz.

My House Concert Story

I attended a house concert years ago way before it was popular in Paris in the early 2000s; I can't even remember the group name. It was private, exclusive, and a wonderfully personal experience. I since have seen Kaylene Peoples during many of her private concert series, Bunny Brunel, and many others. Waiting for Kurt Elling and Diana Krall to be hosted in my home town. Would definitely pay to see that!
