Herbie Hancock said once that Jazz is about being in the moment. So I want to write about that moment.
I'm a Spanish freelance jazz journalist. I was first exposed to jazz through the remarkable experience of living in Den Haag, The Netherlands. Jazz was everywhere. But when I came back to my hometown, Valencia, Spain, I sadly realized that here nobody pays much attention to this music I love, despite the fact that mine is a region with a long and fertile woodwind tradition. And so, I decided it was time to start talking about jazz. That wasn't too long ago, but I have already interviewed quite a few prominent musicians, like David Binney, Mark Turner, Larry Grenadier, Loren Stillman, Perico Sambeat, Jason Palmer, Pete Robbins, Chris Cheek, Antonio Sánchez, Aruan Ortiz, Miguel Zenón, Will Vinson, Grant Stewart, Jerry Bergonzi, Dave Samuels, Avishai Cohen (tp & bassist) and many others.
