My Jazz Story

I love jazz because it inspires me. I was first exposed to jazz via late-night djs who played jazz. I met and worked with many jazz musicians in my 60-year career. The first show I ever attended was Oscar Peterson Trio in 1953. The first jazz record I bought was Ben Webster with Duke Ellington. My advice to new listeners is keep your ears open to everything. Support (attend) jazz in venues in your city and/or contribute to radio stations that feature jazz programming.
