I am a professor of music business and history studies at Middle Tennessee State University as well as a freelance record producer, A&R consultant and a writer/critic. I have been a part of over 100 commercial releases and have two Grammy nominations from my work with the Skatalites. Jazz artists I have been honored to work with in the recording studio include Lester Bowie, Bobby Watson, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Randy Brecker, Steve Turre, Monty Alexander, David Murray, David Fathead Newman, Ruben Wilson, John Abercrombie and Duke Robillard. I own Larchmont Recordings, a record label and production company dedicated to the finest in blues and roots music. We are proud that artists like Rhonda Vincent, Randy Brecker, Duke Robillard, Sue Foley, Eileen Ivers, Melissa Ferrick and Langhorne Slim have recorded for us. I am also currently working on a discography on the Gennett Recording Company and Studio. In my spare time, I birdwatch, obsess over the NY Yankees and UNC Tar Heels, bowl so-so and other boring things that I enjoy.
I have opened a booking agency in 2007 and book great folk / roots artists as Sara Hickman, Amanda Shaw and Joe Ferry and the Big Ska Band
I think I watch too much TV, though.
