A multi-talented saxophonist, composer, and producer, Daniel Weidlein is a quickly rising name on the Los Angeles jazz scene.

About Me

I am a saxophonist, composer, and producer currently living in Los Angeles. I have studied extensively with master saxophonists Bob Mintzer and Bob Sheppard and have emerged with my own voice. I spend a lot of time writing music for various groups of my own, and one group in particularly has received increased notoriety recently—The Vintage Modernists. The group is an explorational instrumental trio that uses improvisation to blend jazz, folk, post-rock, and other styles of music.

While I take the most pleasure in playing music, I also love to listen and it's a lot of fun to respond to that listening with reviews and critiques. I enjoy the process of writing (words as well as music!) and there's nothing better to write about than good jazz.
