Lucy Galliher

About Me

Lucy Galliher, Jazz Pianist, graduate of Oberlin College, also attended Berklee College of Music and San Francisco State University. Received National Endowment for the Arts grant to study jazz piano with Joanne Brackeen. Also studied at BMI Jazz Composers’ Workshop with Manny Albam, Roger Kellaway and Jim McNeely. Studied piano with Art Lande, Mark Levine, Barry Harris and Hansi Alt. Piano faculty member at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, 1989-present. Also teaches piano and jazz vocal workshop at Greenwich House Music School, 1992-present. Lucy Galliher, Jazz Columnist. Jazz Journalist – currently writes jazz reviews for www.nitelifeexchange.com. From 1999-2006 was East Coast Editor of Jazz Now Magazine (www.jazznow.com). Piano credits include Broadway (e.g. Me and My Girl), cruise ships, and recordings, including: Live at Helen’s, Lucy and Moore, with bassist Don Moore, and Springboard, with Chris Potter, Ryan Kisor, Santi DeBriano and Yoron Israel. Recipient of Jazz Now Direct’s “CD of the Month” award in May 2000 for Springboard. Currently performs in various settings at restaurants and clubs such as Zinc Bar, La Mediterranee, The Shrine, The Montauk Club, Atrium at 805 Third Ave. and The Duplex.
