On February 23, 2008, 8:30pm, at the Sweetwater Station on Magnolia in Larkspur CA,
Edo Castro hits the stage with a flurry of talent - including his own!
Castro has collected some of the most creative musicians in the San Francisco Bay Area to
join him on stage in performing his original compositions including: Charles Moselle
saxaphone, flutes and vocals, Alex Aspinall on drums, Erik Lindquist on guitar and
keyboardist, Greg Sankovich. They will deftly travel through a stew of contemporary jazz
with a bit of funk and world beat flavorings sure to set the toes tapping.
These guys understand what I'm trying to do with my music, Castro explained, Each has
a daring approach to their instruments; defying norms, avoiding musical clichs and
taking the risky, musical path of improvisation and experimentation.
Castro will perform a few solo compositions as well having mastered an intricate looping
process that creates enthralling soundscapes.
In addition, singer/songwriter, Jill Knight, opens the evening. Born in South Carolina and
raised on an island just outside of Savannah Georgia, Knight's soulful sound is
unmistakable. Her lyrics are poetic, well crafted and poignant, powerfully moving the
audience through the many facets of any heart-felt relationship. Her presence onstage is
as joyful, intimate and engaging as her songwriting. Knight and Castro have collaborated
onstage and in the studio on multiple occasions working their combined magic.
India Arie once quoted, I love great voices and when I heard Jill sing it stopped me in my
tracks. She later asked Knight to be her opening act.
