Steve Davis Quartet/Quintet/Sextet Upcoming Appearances

Acclaimed trombonist/composer Steve Davis got his start in the late 1980s studying and later playing with his mentor, Jackie McLean. Since then, Davis has worked with a host of jazz legends including Art Blakey, Chick Corea, Freddie Hubbard, Horace Silver, Cecil Payne, Larry Willis, Harold Mabern, Slide Hampton, Roy Hargrove and Wynton Marsalis.

Steve is a founding member of the acclaimed sextet One For All (featuring Eric Alexander, Jim Rotondi, David Hazeltine, Peter Washington and Joe Farnsworth) and has released eight CDs as a leader. Davis, on faculty at The Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz (Univ of Hartford), continues to teach/perform alongside longtime friend/collaborator, bassist Nat Reeves.

A prolific soloist and composer, Steve will lead his own band for several upcoming engagements in NYC, NJ, CT, NH. These performances will feature the warm, melodic sound of “Stevie-D" playing a mix of new, original compositions and jazz standards in quartet, quintet and sextet settings.

Look for Steve's new CD Update (Criss Cross) due to hit stores in mid-May 2006. The stellar band for this session features Peter Bernstein, Anthony Wonsey, Nat Reeves, Joe Farnsworth and special guest Roy Hargrove.
