JAMES CARTER, CYRUS CHESTNUT, ALI JACKSON, & REGINALD VEAL
GOLD SOUNDS ON BROADWAY
From Wednesday, November 30th through Sunday, December 4th New York City music fans have a chance to hear one of the best bands to play a residency at an N.Y.C. jazz club since Monk hooked up with 'Trane. James Carter (reeds), Cyrus Chestnut (keys), Ali Jackson (percussion) and Reginald Veal (bass) will play live together for the first time since they recorded their landmark Brown Brothers Recordings release Gold Sounds.
The All Music Guide had this to say about Gold Sounds...
...Gold Sounds is an overwhelming success, not just as a tribute but as a jazz album. Chestnut's sparkling Fender Rhodes shines throughout, and Veal really shows his versatility on both electric and acoustic bass. James Carter is hands down one of the greatest reedmen alive: he can play it tender or can summon squalls on his instruments that rival electric guitars".
Not a jazz fan? No problem, because the source material for Gold Sounds was culled from the catalogue of one of the finest alt-rock bands of the 1990s, none other than slacker heroes Pavement. So come one, come all and get in on the live music event of the season.
