On Friday August 27th at Lucid Jazz Lounge in Seattle the Jason Parker Quartet will pay homage to legendary British songwriter Nick Drake. The JPQ will debut 10 new arrangements of Drake's songs from his album “Five Leaves Left" in preparation for their next CD, “Five Leaves Left: A Jazz Tribute to Nick Drake," which will be recorded this fall.

Drake's hauntingly lovely compositions lend themselves perfectly to the JPQ's modern improvisational style, leaving plenty of room for interpretation and exploration. The band recorded Drake's tune “Three Hours" on their latest CD (listen here). They will record the remaining tracks from Five Leaves Left this fall, and the Lucid show will be the first public performance of the new repertoire.

The Jason Parker Quartet is:

Jason Parker, trumpet
Josh Rawlings, piano
Evan Flory-Barnes, bass
D'Vonne Lewis, drums

Joining them will be special guests Cynthia Mullis on tenor sax and Michele Khazak on vocals.

The show is at Lucid Jazz Lounge, 5241 University Ave, Seattle, WA. Showtime is 9:30pm and there is no cover charge!
