Ask any young person under the age of twenty-five what a gramophone is and good luck getting a correct answer-for that matter, try talking to them about LPs! Despite this, the gramophone has easily become one of the most prominent images in music that history can recall-it is the symbol for The Recording Academy, presenters of the annual GRAMMY Awards. For over fifty years, the GRAMMYs have been synonymous with the distinguished recording artists, songwriters, and producers of several generations.

It is not surprising that with such an extensive and colorful history, the recording arts would eventually secure its own museum-and that is exactly what the Academy has successfully achieved for nearly two years. Located in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, just across from the Staples Center, The Grammy Museum explores and celebrates the enduring legacies of all forms of music; the creative process...[and] the premier recognition of recorded music accomplishment.

In partnership with their outstanding support of music education, The Grammy Museum is proudly hosting the critically-acclaimed jazz vocalist Pamela Rose who, on Tuesday July 13, will present her first-ever Los Angeles performance of Wild Women of Song: Great Gal Composers of the Jazz Era-a multi-media concert, celebrating the classic women songwriters of jazz.

Returning from recent sold-out performances in London, England and the San Francisco Bay Area, Pamela Rose combines elements of storytelling, archival photos, and a captivating Jazz performance complete with an all-star band, to bring the tales of these fascinating songstresses to life.

Rose was nothing short of electrifying...the show was beautifully structured. A refreshing, different kind of jazz gig, with just the right balance of song-craft, improvisation, visuals and storytelling!-London, JazzFM.org
