This Monday, May 17th, we'll present another edition of our special feature, MONDAY WITH THE MASTERS on MOJA Radio. This time the focus is on one of the great young composers &bandleaders in jazz today, the multi-Grammy nominated vibraphonist, STEFON HARRIS. You'll hear the story of and the music by a great player and intelligent visionary of modern jazz in his prime. You'll hear about his beginnings in upstate New York to his arrival in New York City and how he burst upon the scene to immediately work with some of the greatest players around and establish himself as a force to be reckoned with. Listen for MONDAY WITH THE MASTERS twice every Monday, at Noon Eastern/9 AM Pacific, with a replay Monday night at 9 PM Eastern/6 PM Pacific and this week we place our spotlight on vibes master STEFON HARRIS!

Listen for JAMMIN' JAZZ...JAZZ FOR THE NEW GENERATION WITH MICHELLE SAMMARTINO six times each week, Tuesdays & Thursdays at 9 AM and again at 9 PM EST and twice on Sunday's at 9 AM & 9 PM EST for an hour of up, fun, funky, booty-moving stuff as only Michelle can serve up. LIVE @ MOJALand happens four times each week here on MOJA Radio as we invite you to join us inside the world's only imaginary jazz club for rare, live performances by the biggest names in Modern Jazz. Listen Wednesday morning at 9 AM/6 AM Pacific and again Wednesday night at 9 PM Eastern/6 PM Pacific, and twice again on Sunday at 11 AM & 11 PM Eastern, as part of the Sunday Specials. This week, as we place our focus on the great, musical continent of Africa all week, we'll give you rare, live performances by Africa's finest as we present MOJA GREATS OF AFRICA LIVE. You'll hear a live performance in England during the fusion-era by the great band Osibisa led by the multi-instrumentalist from Ghana, Teddy Osei. Then it's Cameroonian bassist and vocalist Richard Bona, recorded live at the club A38 in Budapest, Hungary followed by a triumphant concert from 1970 featuring Nigerian superstar and the father of “Afrobeat," Fela Kuti with special guest drummer Ginger Baker. Join Russ Davis as he gives you an hour of nothing but the freshest MOJA on THE ALL NEW MUSIC REVUE every Thursday at 10 AM east/7 AM West with a replay at 10 PM East/7 PM West, and twice again on Sundays at 10 AM & 10 PM Eastern. This week you'll hear more from albums we debuted earlier, the hard & funky new sound of New Orleans from Troy “Trombone Shorty" Andrews and some of NOLA's finest on “Backatown." The great live release titled “Marc Cary Focus Trio Live 2009," which captures the great New York based keyboardist on the road in Switzerland, Italy and Colorado. Followed by the Seattle quintet known as Speak, with their “big beat experimental space jazz and improvised music" on the album simply titled “Speak." Then it's 3 new releases that continue our week-long exploration of the joys of African MOJA as we debut Regina Carter's brilliant investigation of African folk music and jazz on “Reverse Thread," Cameroon's great vocalist and bassist Richard Bona with “The Ten Shades of Blues" and another great bassist we've enjoyed over the years here on MOJA Radio, Joseph Patrick Moore, with his new one titled “To Africa With Love." Every Friday beginning at 7 AM until midnight Eastern time we'll begin each hour with a classic piece of Jazz Fusion history with our special feature we call IF IT'S FRIDAY, THIS MUST BE FUSION. This Friday, May 21st, we'll continue our week-long special focus on the birthplace of so much of what we call American music with a special feature we call “THE GREATEST FUSION HITS OF AFRICA!" We'll treat you to some of the fantastic fusion-era work of greats like South Africa's Hugh Masekela, Nigeria's legendary Fela Kuti, Cameroon's Manu Dibango, supergroup Osibisa led by Teddy Osei from Ghana and the Green Arrows from Zimbabwe. You'll hear them all if you join us for this week's edition of IF IT'S FRIDAY, THIS MUST BE FUSION. It's “THE GREATEST FUSION HITS OF AFRICA!"

We're celebrating Africa's place in MOJA all this week so this Saturday, May 22nd, is the perfect time to talk to three artists with Africa on their minds and new releases to prove it as we present our weekly feature WORDS & MUSIC on MOJA Radio this one titled “DESTINATION AFRICA!" The great violinist Regina Carter investigates the marriage of jazz and African folk music on her new one “Reverse Thread." Cameroonian bassist and vocalist Richard Bona debuts cuts from his wonderful new release “The Ten Shades of Blues." And we'll talk a little music history with Bela Fleck and hear music from his album created during his recent trip to multiple African nations “Throw Down Your Heart, Tales From The Acoustic Planet Vol. 3: The Africa Sessions." Interview segments with these four great guitar masters followed by their new music will begin each hour from Noon through Midnight Eastern time (9 AM-9 PM Pacific). Join us for “DESTINATION AFRICA," on this week's WORDS & MUSIC.
