Jazzmobile Presents: Vocalfest in April (NYC)

Paying homage to Jazz Appreciation Month and jazz vocalists of the past and the present, Jazzmobile's month-long celebration of the art of the voice is unveiled over four fabulous weekends in April.

Friday, April 9

Truly the essence of a cool, laid back style, winner of Jazzmobile's 2005 Jazz Vocal Competition, Lynette Washington , will fascinate, captivate and lift your spirits and make your heart soar.

Saturday, April 10

Classic beauty and elegance, Cynthia Holiday sings and swings with a sultry, soulful grace that cloak familiar tunes in a caring embrace.

Friday, April 16

Gregory Generet knows the art of the ballad; his hot and cool, smooth and rich velvet voice is “the real thing."

Saturday, April 17

Striking and distinctive with a burnished, soulful alto, Lezlie Harrison, delivers a signature sound so enchanting, moving with ease through a set of deeply felt blues and swinging jazz tunes.

Friday, April 23

Brilliantly gifted, Gregory Porter possesses a powerful voice that calms the soul and lays bare for all to feel, every emotional nuance, every secret place hidden in a song.

Saturday April 24

The incomparable, versatile virtuoso Ebony Jo-Ann can raise the rafters with a voice that brings a soothing sound to thunder and a quiet hush over gale winds.

Friday, April 30

The strong, mellow and mysterious voice of Everett Greene harnesses the smooth and distinctive, deep, liquid baritone of Billy Eckstine.

Saturday, May 1

Lighting up the stage with sinewy grit, sophisticated sass and, a voice that caresses the heart, Cynthia Scott embraces the sensual, versatile and charming Gloria Lynne.
