Stephanie Nakasian Sings Billie Holiday

Inner City Records proudly presents “Billie Remembered," the newest album from jazz vocalist Stephanie Nakasian.

“From my earliest years listening to jazz... I'd often wondered if it would be possible to recreate Billie's first and finest recordings. It wasn't until 2009 that I encountered a singer equal to the task," says Irv Kratka, president of Inner City. Nakasian turned out to be more than equal to the task, recreating the mood of Billie's work while putting her own spin on the songs.

She is joined by a band including Hod O'Brien on piano, Randy Sandke on trumpet, Harry Allen on tenor sax, Dan Block on alto and clarinet, Marty Grosz on guitar, Chuck Riggs on drums, and Neil Miner on bass. They combine to make an album that is a fitting tribute to the seminal work of Billie Holiday, and has a life of its own.

Songs on this album include “No Regrets," “Did I Remember?" “What a Night, What a Moon, What a Boy," “I Wished On the Moon," “I Cried For You," “These Foolish Things," “What a Little Moonlight Can Do," “Reaching for the Moon," “Too Hot For Words," “If You Were Mine," and “Miss Brown To You."
