Band Leader David Levy and Out To Lunch Ignite the Downtown NYC Improvisational Jazz Scene with an Adventurous Blend of Instrumental Funk, Soulful Grooves and World Music Elegance

NEW YORK, NY -- Pushing the depths of the experimental NYC funk and jazz music scene, New York City based Out To Lunch will be releasing its sophomore album, Melvin's Rockpile on the highly esteemed label Accurate Records on January 12, 2010.

After the resounding success of OTLs debut, EXCUSE ME WHILE I DO THE BOOGALOO, Accurate Records inked a deal with the band, adding OTLs sophomore effort Melvin's Rockpile to the labels large catalogue of dynamic experimental jam outfits including Medeski, Martin and Wood, Jazz Mandolin Project, Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey and Josh Roseman.

Establishing what Billboard Magazine calls, A distinctive brand of funk, Out To Lunch breaks from the precedent set by other highly touted artists in their genre by fusing a full horn section with the bands rhythm section, and crossing their organic instrumentation with live electronica. This entirely unique soundscape has become the signature OUT TO LUNCH sound.

Making their mark over the last three years through a residency at NuBlu, Out To Lunch has become a mainstay on the underground NYC jazz scene. The Village Voice notes, Bandleader David Levy translates his enthusiasm for James Brown's rhythmic genius and Eric Dolphy's improvisational acumen into this ambitious and funky groove-prov sextet.

Melvin's Rockpile feeds listeners improvisational imagination with irresistible dance funk energy while continuously challenging the listeners aesthetic sensibility. As evidenced by tracks such as To the Queen and Captain Stilts, OTLs genre-bending soundscapes range from world, funk, jazz and breakbeat to dub and improvised house, captivating a cross-culture of audiences everywhere.

Out To Lunch and Melvin's Rockpile record release show is scheduled for January 15, 2009 at NuBlu in New York City, where the band holds their monthly residency.
