Percussionist Fred Scott has launched his new website at fredscottjazz.com. The new site includes calendar information, photos, press quotes, links and more.

A few words from Fred Scott

I have been playing percussion since 1959 and piano since 1980. I have traveled all over the United States, learning rhythms, from New Orleans. I've worked and studied with some of the baddist cats in the world. Besides playing with percussionist at the Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco, Joe Henderson had a Jazz work shop on Haight Ashbury Street, BJ Jackson and Dewey Redman came through.

Back home in Detroit, Roy Brooks and Marcus Belgrave had a place called the Music Station. I worked there for a year playing and learning from The Master of Percussion--Mr Roy Brooks.

I recorded my first 45 rpm in 1963 “Drum Boogie," the flip side was “Hesitation Waltz." Later at Big Star Recording Studio, owned by Bobo Jenkins, I did “Journey Within" and “El Lobo."

During the 70's, I recorded with Wendel Harison, Dreams of a Love Supreme, Sweet Claudet, Willie D Warren, The Easy Does It Band, Corcovato, Novato, Charley Bannister's--Detroit Drum Ensemble, Pea Nut Chandler, and played in many more bands then I can mention.

My Inspirations came from Mongo Santamaria, Preston Epps, Joe Pass, Santana, Gato, Gene Harris, Dr. John, The Neville Brothers and Armondo Perazza.

As you can see I have payed alot of dues, I hope you enjoy my site.
