Luis Bonilla, Afro-Cuban Latin Jazz

Tickets: $25, $15, $8

Jazz 'n the Hall
Presented by Seton Hall Arts Council Grammy-winning Afro-Cuban/Latin Jazz trombonist, composer and bandleader, Luis Bonilla, explodes the usual musical structures of both kinds of music (NY Times). Bonilla is a prominent force in the N.Y. and international Jazz and Latin scenes. The energetic and improvisational performance of his Afro-Cuban/Latin Jazz ensemble will, quite literally, move you in your seat.

The Vanguard Jazz Orchestra
Tuesday, November 10 at 7:30pm
Tickets: $25, $15, $8
This 16-piece modern big band, established by Thad Jones and Mel Lewis, began its 42-year old, Monday night tradition at the world-famous Village Vanguard night club. Winner of a 2009 Grammy for best large Jazz ensemble, the Vanguard will take a break from its NYC venue with a special performance for Jazz n the Hall. One of New Yorks institutions... its strengths are its colors and its soloists.
The New York Times

The Manhattan Transfer
Sunday, December 6 at 4pm
Tickets: $98, $78, $58
Sunday, December 6 at 7pm
Tickets: $123, $78, $58
SOPAC presents the Grammy-award winning The Manhattan Transfer, a four-part jazz vocal ensemble, whose work fused together elements of jazz, classic R&B, pop, rock and swing. Their unique sound, backed by a four-piece jazz group, brought jazz back to the mainstream in the late 1970s. The group performs classic holiday favorites lending a unique sound and groove to the season.

Dianne Reeves
Special Holiday Concert

Sunday, December 20 at 4 & 7pm
Tickets: $68, $58, $48
A natural story teller, she used her timing and phrasing to bring novel insights to everything she sang. The Los Angeles Times SOPAC proudly presents Dianne Reeves for the first time for two holiday concerts. Ms. Reeves is recognized as the worlds preeminent jazz vocalist, winning an unprecedented Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Performance for three consecutive recordingsa first in any vocal category. Although known for her styling with such jazz legends such as Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, Reeves has also won critical acclaim for her holiday music. When Ms. Reeves released her first holiday collection Christmas Time is Here, Ben Ratliff of The New York Times raved, Ms. Reeves, a jazz singer of frequently astonishing skill, takes the assignment seriously; this is one of the best jazz Christmas CDs I've heard. Dont miss this wonderful performance, featuring a jazzy twist, exclusively at SOPAC!

David Sanborn
Thursday, January 28 at 8pm
Tickets: $68, $58, $48
SOPAC presents David Sanborn as a highlight of its music series, performing works from his varied career. A saxophone play with a distinctive tone, David Sanborns music crosses multiple genres outside of jazz. Known for his standout solo on the David Bowie hit Young Americans, Sanborn has built a reputation for a matchless tone with roots in jazz, R&B and blues. A fixture of the New York jazz scene, Sanborn brings his peerless performance style and grace for an evening of great music at SOPAC.
