Los Angeles, CA - Colombian rockers, SUPERLITIO scored their first Latin Grammy Nomination in the Best New Artist category as announced Wednesday morning. The band recently released their US debut, Tripping Tropicana on Cielo Music Group/BMG US Latin and are currently seeing great success with the first single, “Que Vo’ Hacer.”

SUPERLITIO bassist Pedro Rovetto was on hand at the press conference and was thrilled to hear the band’s name called in the Best New Artist category. “It is an honor to receive such a prestigious nomination, especially to be acknowledged for a record we are so proud of. We are very excited about the opportunity to represent Colombia at this years Grammy Awards.”

The group completed their first US west coast promo tour in May where they spent a month supporting Tripping Tropicana along with the first single, “Que Vo’ Hacer.” SUPERLITIO’S personal presence in the States has launched them to the next phase in solidifying them as one of the most promising Latin Alternative crossover groups today.

While on the west coast, the band visited cities such as Phoenix, San Francisco, San Jose and Anaheim and spent most of their time in Los Angeles where they took part in a rigorous promo schedule. While in LA, SUPERLITIO put on a critically praised showcase where they packed the house filled with fans and industry folk alike. It had been two months since Tripping Tropicana was released by the time the band visited the US and already their single, “Que Vo’ Hacer” was a steady fixture on the R&R Latin Alt/Rock charts, hitting #1 numerous times as well as the video being placed in rotation on MTVLA, MTVS, VHUNO and more.

In other promotional news, the first track on Tripping Tropicana, entitled “Babylon,” has just been released on the influential BMG US Latin compilation Latin Rock Explosion Vol. 2 along with tracks from Alejandra Guzman, Gustavo Cerati, Jumbo, Julieta Venegas, Aterciopelados and more.

SUPERLITIO’S broad musical spectrum, combining rock, funk, electronic, reggae and Latin grooves along with lyrics in Spanish, English and French has allowed them to reach fans of all ages and genres as well as open up a world of opportunities to them. Currently, plans are underway for the international release of Tripping Tropicana in Europe as well as the highly anticipated release in their homeland, Colombia. The international album release date will be announced shortly along with the new single, video and tour dates for the US market.
