From 10 October 2008, Berlin will host a unique new jazz festival.

Over a period of five days, “Young Generation Jazz" will present virtuoso artists from the national and international young European jazz scene. With a special focus on outstanding developments in Scandinavia, the events will include a day of “Young Scandinavian Jazz". In cooperation with numerous European arts councils, private sponsors and the newly founded federal “Music Initiative" - “Young Generation Jazz" provides a platform for international musical exchange possibilities, and an unprecedented opportunity to experience the plenitude and depth of an emerging generation of jazz musicians.

Musical traditions will be broken, and new European connections and synergies created. Appropriately, the chosen venues are symbolic of breaching boundaries: ufaFabrik, Werkstatt der Kulturen and Babylon Mitte are locations rooted in different cultures represented by Young Generation Jazz.

This year's festival co-operates with Popkomm and different media partners, all of whom contribute to the success of the festival. Jazz abandoned its musical isolation a long time ago and now reflects the variety of modern music.

The performances of Jef Neve (Belgium), Shreefpunk (Germany), Yaron Herman and Fredrika Stahl (France), Viktor Tth (Hungary), Hakon Kornstad and Fattigfolket (Norway), Tineke Postma (Netherlands) and the HDV-Trio (Austria) are among the finest of their generation.
