A proclamation issued by Governor Mitch Daniels today officially declares April “Jazz Appreciation Month," or JAM for short.
Indiana now joins nine other states that have followed the lead of the Smithsonian Institute's National Museum of American History's Jazz initiative to increase awareness of this original American art form.

Young Audiences of Indiana (YA) submitted the request for proclamation two weeks ago. YA is the voice of arts in education for the state. We provide programming, and work collaboratively to make the arts part of every child's life. We have an extensive catalog of teaching artists with expertise in Jazz music and history.
