Jordyn Jackson

Jackson’s fifth album, September in the Garden, is her first project focusing on Jazz vocals. September in the Garden showcases Jordyn Jackson's vocals and the incredible range of talents of the young Louisiana musicians who arranged, produced and performed on the album. Led by Beau St. Pierre and Jake Smith, who created the new instrumentations, tempos and overall arrangements of the album, Jackson re-envisions ten musical standards. Over the course of several weeks at Fudge Recording Studio in the Garden District of New Orleans, a collaborative musical effort was recorded and engineered by Jacques Delatour and Jack Miele. With Chris Arceneaux on drums, Jake Smith and Joseph Walker on guitar, Tommy Sciple and Darren Phipps on electric and upright bass, Mike Broussard, Jr. on saxophone, Jack Craft on cello, and his brother Sam Craft on violin, even engineer Jack Miele played lap steel on Lilac Wine, and of course Beau St. Pierre rounding things out on piano and trumpet, the album's sound organically came together. During all of this, Jordyn was also able to sing backing vocals on pop rock singer songwriter Nick Gill's self titled album that was being recorded in New Orleans as well.

After all the recording was completed, the raw tracks were sent to Shawn Grove who mixed them at Edible Studios in Sandy Springs, GA, the private home studio of Ed Roland, lead singer and songwriter of Collective Soul. Shawn’s ear, normally tuned to a more rock sound (Collective Soul, Sevendust) added an edge that really shines through on the album. The final touches were put on the album when it was mastered by Glenn Schick at his studio in Atlanta.

Tracks from September in the Garden are already receiving airplay on both broadcast as well as internet radio worldwide.

To give you some more background, Jackson started performing professionally in 1999 at the age of 14, recording and performing covers of popular songs of the era, as well as singing the National Anthem at various local sporting events. Jackson took more creative control in 2003 when she released I Dreamt a Dream, a studio album of original songs she co-wrote with Kurt Hawthorne. Sonny Lallerstedt, who has performed with Elton John both in the studio as well as live in concert, contributed his characteristic guitar stylings to the album. Also, showing what would soon be known as her characteristic spunk, Jackson auditioned in Atlanta for American Idol by singing her album’s title song instead of the usual cover song expected by the judges. In 2004, Jackson released her eponymous album in collaboration with Lee Miles. This collection of original songs was recorded in Orlando, FL, exposing Jackson to the burgeoning Orlando music scene surrounding Will Baker, Tony Battaglia and Lou Pearlman. Jackson worked with various musicians, contributing lyrics and melodies to their projects, as well as performing radio jingles written by Louis Pecci for national spots. Working with Tim Nold, Jackson also co-produced and recorded vocals for a costume/cartoon character based ice show Pecci designed for the Al Shallal Theme Park in Saudi Arabia. Jackson auditioned for American Idol once again, this time in Las Vegas, performing Christina Aguilera’s The Voice Within, but turned what would become her second rejection into a positive experience by channeling her energies into her next musical project: Bordighera, Italy.
