Michaela Rabitsch, singer, composer and Austrias only female top jazztrumpetplayer releases now her third CD together with guitarist Robert Pawlik. Moods presents ten songs that reflect the passion, energy and emotions of their life. This album is their first common recording on which they exclusively focus on their original compositions.
They are presenting jazz witch catchy melodies, strong harmonies, groovy rhythms and adventorious improvisations in a fine balanced vocal - instrumental mix, either as a quartet or as a duo.
Michaela Rabitsch, born and grown up in Upper Austria, studied violin at an early age. She mooved to Vienna to continue these studies at Vienna Conservatory, but made the decision to switch to business economy after university entrance diploma. But the passion for music was stronger, so she took up the trumpet at the age of 23. She studied Jazz and popular music at Bruckner Conservatory Linz, where she graduated in 1995. Since that time she performed with various Jazz- and Funk bands in Vienna.
For more than twelve years now she works together with Robert Pawlik, either in duo or in quartet. The fact that they studied extensively the Jazz repertoire and a lot of Jazz related music genres gives them a rich musical vocabulary to draw from. They developed a unique sound, composing a lot of their repertoire together in interaction.
The fact, that Michaela is a trumpet player and singer at the same time gives her an extra venue of possibilities in expression and interpretation.
In the last years she gained international reputation performing at Festivals like Int. Jazzfestival Sibiu (Romania), Int. Jazzfestival Nisville (Serbia), Int. Jazz Festival Moscow (Russia), Tel Aviv - Jazz Festival at Givatayim Theater (Israel), Festival Lent - Maribor (Slovenia), Bansko Jazz Festival (Bulgaria), Jazz Festival Burghausen (Germany),or Jazz Clubs like Joe Zawinul's Birdland or Porgy & Bess, to name just a few. November 2008 she toured through China and HongKong, including a concert at Shanghai Oriental Art Center.
Michaela lives in Vienna, Austria, together with her husband Robert Pawlik and their twins Fabian and Valerie (born 1999):

...Moods is a superb album and a showcase for non-American jazz, and is
rapidly becoming one of my albums of the year......
......One seldom equates Austria with having any significant jazz talent,
outside of Joe Zawinul, but Moods, by Michaela Rabitsch and Robert Pawlik,
proves conclusively that jazz lives on in Austria.

High Class, Sassy Brass…that is the ever-evolving legacy of the Rabitsch &
Pawlik duet when their Moods spin you!
...This is an innovative jazz disc, bright, precise, and most of all, diabolically
up tempo! .... This quartet has a sophisticated way of creating original
selections while at the same time, articulating their musicianship to the next
level. Seeing this ensemble live has to be a dynamic kick! ....
Karl Stober, Jazzreview
The chemistry is obvious from the first of 10 impressive songs on their latest
album “Moods.
... “Moods” is a record that can transform the most pedestrian of places into
an underground jazz club.......a superb album!
Hilary Matfess, The Metro Spirit Weekly
... Rabitsch sings with genuine authority and plays both trumpet and
flugelhorn well. Her instrumental textures recall the best of Miles Davis while
her vocals stand alone as a fresh voice that means every word. She tells
stories through original lyrics and enjoys wordless vocals with her Latin
numbers, recalling the excitement of Tania Maria and the sensuality of Astrud
Gilberto.....
Jim Santella, All About Jazz
What is it about Europe that turns out woman trumpet players that have a
great jazz sense? The ones that know how to hit it really know how to hit
and Rabitsch is one of the ones in the winner‚s circle..... this is a great
example of the fun kind of jazz that makes people that think they didn‚t like
jazz get turned on. From Austria they come and this trumpet/guitar led crew
just might conquer the world with their sound.

A modern day female Chet Baker....Kyle O'Brien, Jazzscene
Michaela Rabitsch and Robert Pawlik had been extraordinary and good as a
duo, as Michaela Rabitsch & Robert Pawlik Quartet they are extraordinary
good.....Frank Becker, Musenblaetter Jazz
This CD is really flawlessly, groovy, swinging, and proofes, that Viennese
charm and Jazz definitely combine.....Angela Ballhorn, Jazzthetik
Austrian jazz vocalist & trumpet/flugelhorn artist Michaela blends together
with Pawlik's superb guitar phrasings to render an album that's most
enjoyable and full of great jazz energy.
The arrangements are superb as well,... they will snare your ears in a matter
of seconds. The word that sticks in my mind as I listen through this fantastic
CD is - diversity... it's clear from the listening that these players are
comfortable with differences, and in my mind, that makes their music
immediately accessible.
Their album gets a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED from these old
ears.....Rotcod Zzaj, Improvijazzation Nation #83
