Good Question is a twelve bar blues. The melody is reminiscent of Ornette Colemans When Will The Blues Leave. Soloists include Tom Balls trombone, John Gunthers alto, and Matt Wilsons drums, and stunning bass trombone work by Gary Mayne. Hold On provides a dramatic display of innovative sounds, rooted in the modern big- band tradition yet moving beyond the expected. Hess music is passionate and nuanced, sophisticated and fun.
