"Wanderlust, what an evocative word - a love of the journey and a passion for everything found along the way - the languages, sights, sounds, tastes, all the unique cultural facets that make our earth so wonderfully diverse. Allison Adams Tucker has a bad case of wanderlust. Maybe it all started when she first became aware of her musician fathers fondness for collecting stringed instruments from around the world. Maybe her grandmother, Romaine, stoked the fires singing to her as a young girl (and still today) those classic lyrics of longing I'll be seeing you in all the old familiar places that this heart of mine embraces all day through . . . Whatever the reasons, she has developed an unrequited love for the width and breath of this planet, and the variety and uniqueness of the different cultures that make it up. Added to that, she inherited standout vocal gifts from her classically trained singer mother. So, whats a girl like that to do? Why, sing about it, of course. And sing she does - with a beautifully clear voice, honest, supple, and ingratiating, lacking any evidence of the pretension found in so many of today's vocalists.

And she has a story to tell. She was a Linguistics major who always dreamed of living abroad. And Allison is someone who pursues her dreams. She married her college sweetheart, Dave. When she sang, You got me, through a wild and crazy world we will journey to him at their wedding ceremony, little did they realize how prophetic that would be. They honeymooned in Australia and New Zealand, and before long found themselves on a bullet train bustling across the island of Japan.

My experience in Japan changed my life. We only intended to stay for a year, but ended up staying for four. They lived in a small idyllic town on the Sea of Japan, Maizuru, steeped in tradition and home to only a handful of English speakers.

Allison's travels have taken her to 12 countries. The more she saw and experienced, the more defined became her concept of collaging the melodies, lyrics, and sounds of music from around the globe together with the timeless music of the Great American Songbook. The project you hold in your hands reflects all the things she loves flowing together.
