From
Words Project II (New Amsterdam Records) by Sam Sadigursky
About
Such Fruit comes from Words Project II, the 2008 follow-up to Sam Sadigursky's first collection of text and poetry settings for New Amsterdam Records, which was named one of the top ten albums of 2007 by Steve Smith in Time Out New York. It features features the vocals of Becca Stevens, along with Sadigursky on soprano saxophone, Pete Rende on piano and pump organ, Nate Radley on guitar, Eivind Opsvik on bass, and Bill Campbell on drums. It is a setting of the poem Such Fruit - The Ritual by Sadi Ranson-Polizzotti. Find the text below:
Such fruit these pears you bring
I never question why. You never say.
Brown bag, it bears two Anjou .
Wordlessly, a park, you lead.
Our cadence, it catches.
Perfect rhythm.
Always the grass. Always the shade.
So we sit, some ritual, it says what?
We never ask.
You watch the perfumed juice.
how it shines on my lips,
one drop on my chin.
You think about the taste;
How a kiss would be in this moment
