“The Government Loves Garage Sales” by Das Vibenbass
Mindwrestling (HOP Productions) by Das Vibenbass
The band, as described by their Web site:
Das Vibenbass have been serving up their unique brand of jazz since 2001. Conceived by the talented and practiced duo of vibraphone impresario Justin Sorensen and bassist Geoff Larson, the group grew to include drummer JC Bockman and tenor saxophonist Josh Clifford. Das Vibenbass now uses its founded and balanced arrangements to propel their muscular and dirty jazz. DVB present an utterly original sound: harmonious at one moment while aggressive and biting the next. Unlike other skilled instrumental groups, DVB doesnt unconsciously flounder around. The bands strength is their ability to divulge different musical landscapes in a single song; its well-managed mischief. As a group, they skillfully avoid obvious solo-structured songs and, instead, provide a good few comfortable constructs. What we get are interesting songs: digestible and, though featuring sax and vibes, containing lovely, witty movements. The group has been scorching Northwest venues for four years and released Animals and Robots, its first full-length studio effort for HOP Productions, in January 2006. This song is from their follow-up album Mindwrestling.
A number of live shows by the band are available at the Internet Archive at www.archive.org.
