The title piece, "Tri-cycle", was awarded a 2005 PA Council on the Arts Jazz Composition grant and is very much inspired by the music of Lucas Foss. I have attempted here to integrate composed sections of music with improvised sections in order to create a seamless flow of shifting melody, harmony, meter and emotional content.
