Added: 2004-05-03 John Coltrane marries Alice McCleod, who replaces McCoy Tyner as Coltrane's pianist. Following the departure of Elvin Jones, Coltrane's new quintet, which includes Alice Coltrane, Pharoah Sanders, Jimmy Garrison and Rashied Ali, records Live at the Village Vanguard Again! (Impulse!) in late May and Live in Japan (Impulse!) in July. The latter recording (reissued as a 4-CD set) features a nearly hour-long version of “My Favorite Things.”
