Added: 2004-04-27 A publisher buys the rights to several Scott Joplin rags, but turns down “Maple Leaf Rag”. Shortly thereafter, (farmer, ice cream salesman, and piano peddler) John Stark hears the song, likes it, and publishes it for Joplin. “Maple Leaf Rag” sells over 100,000 copies.
