Writer, columnist based in the Lowcountry of South Carolina.

I'm a music and semi-humor writer based in the Lowcountry of South Carolina; my music writing has appeared in Billboard, the Chicago Sun-Times, Playboy, No Depression, a Jimmy Buffett fan newsletter in Pennsylvania for some reason and Backstreets, the leading magazine dedicated to Bruce Springsteen, who, I must admit, provided my introduction to the sax. My young son became briefly obsessed with Horace Silver's “Song For My Father,” which reduced me to tears for like a month. I also have what is probably the most obvious Desert Island list on this site.

  1. John Coltrane - Blue Train
  2. Mose Allison - Allison Wonderland
  3. Horace Silver - Song For My Father
  4. Charles Mingus - Mingus Ah Um
  5. Miles Davis - The Birth of the Cool
  6. Theolonious Monk - Solo Monk

What I'm Listening To Now (As of 2010-01-09)

  2. Howard Rumsey's Lighthouse All-Stars - Sunday Jazz A La Lighthouse: Vol. 1
  3. Fats Waller - If You Have To Ask, You Ain't Got It
