An avid music listener, with roots in Rock, Jazz and Indian Classical. Contributing for AAJ for some time now from the Indian perspective of Jazz...
I listen to Jazz, uh… listen to music. I hate to attach genre to music or should say that I am bad in doing that. Jazz to me has always signified music with free improvisation and far sister of Indian Classical music, which I came across during my student life in Varanasi, India. I am engineer by profession and did my undergraduate from Banaras Hindu University. Varanasi has always been considered the birthplace of Indian culture and its rich music is a free improvisation of the artist himself. I write with various music publications in India and am a fervent music collector.
