Meet the Jazz Video Guy
A Writer and Video Journalist, I was the first Jazz blogger when, as the Pariah, I started
posting my outrageous opinions on Bird Lives! in 1997.
In 1999, I began producing video for the web. My documentaries and Video Podcasts
include Orrin Keepnews, Producer for the Concord Music Group, The Sonny Rollins
Podcast for Rollins' own Doxy Records, an ongoing documentary about the Saxophone
Colossus and the Saxophone Summit Seraphic Light Podcasts.
'Bret has really captured the recording process, but even more so the special feeling we
had those days recording with the new Saxophone Summit. There was definitely
something very historic and meaningful happening on those days.

My current projects include the ongoing Podcasts with Sonny Rollins, lots of video with Joe
Lovano and his new group, Us Five, the digitizing of Billy Taylor's archives, some videos
for Mosaic Records, and my new video blog.
In his celebrated blog, Jazz Wax, Marc Myers wrote:Bret Primack's latest video
documentary for Concord Records supports the label's re-release of
Nat Adderley's Work Song. As always, Bret makes superb use of his interview time with
producer Orrin Keepnews. He also includes part of a terrific
TV interview conducted with Nat Adderley in which Nat opened up about his softening
career following his brother Cannonball's death in 1975. Bret again has done
a masterful job of compressing the album's back story into a few minutes. I wish all
record labels would tap Bret for similar
projects (calling Mosaic Records). In the video age, such a visual document is essential for
marketing, education and entertainment.
