Silent Night from the album Jazz Christmas. A very mellow vibe, with a soulful string arrangement. A pure blend of dark and light that manages to capture the spirit and essence of christmas..Listen to a sample here: http://www.jazzchristmas.co.uk

All are great but consider "A Child Is Born" - Thad Jones Mel Lewis or Oscar Peterson's version; A Merrier Christmas - Monk and the cover by Betty Carter; Kenny Burrell or Jim Hall's CVhristmas albums; Fareed Haque's "Your a Mean One Mr. Grinch; Johnny Mercer and Jack Teagarden singing Christmas Night in Harlem with the Paul Whiteman Orchestra(1934); Singers Unlimited "Christmas"; The original NPR Christmas CD; McCoy Tyner - "I'll be Home for Christmas" from Jingle Bell Jazz -Columbia; Paul Bley Trio - Santa Claus is Coming to Town (1953); Bobby Timmons - White Christmas 1964; so many more - Greenpiece - Maria Schneider Orchestra; Marcus Roberts Christmas album; Peace- Ornette; Spirits Rejoice - Albert Ayler....oh, and Five Pound Box of Money - Pearl Baily

And lo a wise man of retail did appear in their midst. And his name was Ama of Zon. Bearing gifts aplenty, Ama of Zon promised eternal joy, and a lifetime of spam and cookies, asking only for credit card details and customer loyalty in return. And soon the flock forgot why they had gathered in the first place. Verily twas the beginning of the end. Nice plug dude. Subtle..

An AAJ member asked where this stuff can be heard/ordered. I'd provided a few links, nothing more, nothing less (and not all links).
I've no personal interest in amazon. I could have chosen cduniverse or any other online vendor. I make no money from amazon - am not even an affiliate partner. -

My all time favorites are Kurt Elling's "Cool Yule", Bob Dorough's "Blue Xmas", and Benny Green's "Zat You Santa Claus".
