    Someone was curious about this article, so when I sent the link I read it again for myself.

    The sad thing is that very little has changed. The public (and, worse yet, the profession) continues to peddle the same dusty misconceptions about musicians and mental illness. If the language isn't as alarmist and irresponsible as the JazzTimes article I'm addressing here, the bad information is still getting out and being believed.

    The good news is that all this nonsense inspired me to finally write that book. The Insanity Hoax: Exposing the myth of the mad genius came out in 2012 and is available online; more info and personal copies can be found at www.theinsanityhoax.com.
