This fascinating interview confirms a lot of what one already assumes about Jim Hall from his playing. He has little ego and never wishes to "show off". Wouldn't it be nice if more of today's so called "top" jazz guitarists acted in the same way. Jim has a "compositional" approach to making his solos. He is a great inspiration to those of us who were his fans when he played with Chico Hamilton and who are still trying hard to discover important things about improvisation and the guitar. Certainly he is the greatest jazz guitarist still working today. Long may he continue to bring us the great pleasure and inspiration of witnessing new ways in jazz expression.
