    Hello Dan, yeh things sure as hell ain't what they used to be are they? I knew, we have penicillin now et el.and like that. Dan, let me ask you a question. Cootie Williams-what did he contribute to Monks tune roun about Midnight- seems the hight of incongruity's but his name is on the chart-im sure you can hip me to this. Thanks, Mort

    Hi Mort, I've always sort of wondered that myself, since Monk wasn't much to do co-writing. I know the Cootie Williams Orchestra was the first to record "'Round Midnight," back in 1944, before even Monk had recorded it. Maybe Williams just sort of took the liberty of getting his name on there, or maybe he tweaked it for his recording, justifying a co-writing credit
