Kneebody is one of the brightest hopes for the future of Jazz. Stylistically they embrace many influences and yet have forged an immediately indentifiable voice. They're talented both as improvisers and composers - and they find room for balancing both. But I think what really sets them apart, (and arguably makes the aforementioned possible), is that they are a band. After a couple of generations-worth of Jazz culture fostering (albeit talented) sidemen that circulate though each other's records and touring bands, it becomes evident upon hearing Kneebody what a true band can bring back to the mix.
