Robert B. Drew wrote on July 06, 2010 reportYusef Lateef is featured on four tracks on the excellent Slide Hampton album Drum Suite, released in 1962. The opener Fump, in 5/4,features Lateef on flute. According to the liner notes, this may be the first time 5/4 has been employed in such a large group.
Lateef's tenor is a feature of Like Someone In Love, starting slowly, and moving into an up tempo section; the album is worth getting for this track alone.
Gallery Grove features Lateef with George Coleman on tenor. He is heard again on Our Waltz. Check it out. -

Lateef's "Cry!-Tender" is the saddest music ever written...
