I happened to come across the audio recording of this interview (which is on Amazon.com for 99 cents as an MP3). I would suggest listening to that instead. This transcript is really messed up. He never actually says anything like "synthesizers kind of miss the point," for example, even though that's in the featured quote at the top. He does say people have been "fooled into thinking they're not music," however (big difference). If you're interested in Wayne Shorter it's probably worth the buck to download the audio and hear what the man has to say in his own words.
