I very much enjoyed reading your review of Russell Malone's latest release. Just curious... but how do you interpret "Heartstrings" starting at a "breakneck spee." Are you confusing that description to another track on the album? "Heartstrings" is very much a ballad from beginning to end.

    Michael,

You said, "Let's hope that Volume Two is not far behind."

Well, just nine months later, it is here.

It would be great to read a another Russell Malone review from you!

    Dear Kandie Webster:

Thank you for your kind corrections. I guess I never realized that people are reading. I really do not know what I was thinking about when I wrote the note on "Heartstrings." I will correct it.

    Hi Michael,

I read your review the day it was published. Thank you. It is posted as a link on Russell's musician profile page, of course.

Thanks for the nice compliment about my name.

    Michael,

I just now noticed your reply to my comment here. Did you ever make that "correction?" It still looks the same (I think).

    Just wondering...

    Kandie:

I am finally learning to use the comments section of our website. I looked at the article and it looks like I changed "spee" to "pace." I have slept since then and must have changed it in a dream.

    Hi again, Michael,

Good to hear from you here again. Thanks for the kind consideration. There is no notification system set up yet, so I did not know that you replied. Michael said it will be coming at some point. Every other web site I am a member of notifies me of every little thing, which can be annoying at times.

That very first comment I left way back on 11-23-2006, was left under my old/duplicate AAJ member account attached to a different email address. When I became a profile editor, I asked Michael to delete that one. That is why I cannot correct my typo (spee)!!!

Oh well... have you checked out Russell Malone's profile page here at AAJ? He was my first. I used parts of yours and Victor Vierney's reviews in the Biography section. Thank you for your wonderful writing.

I also used what you wrote for Live At (The) Jazz Standard Volume 2 in the "Press Quotes" section. Thank you for that as well.

I look forward to reading more from you. If you click on my name at the end of Russell's page, you will read a bit about how I met him and other jazz artists in the past two years.

I sense you have a good sense of humor...so with that in mind, I still do not think that "Heartstrings" starts out at a breakneck "pace" or "speed." I actually get a sexy and romantic feeling listening to it. So my original comment is still out there. ;-)

    Jazzy Cheers,
