My very first live jazz experience was at age 18. The Gerald Wilson Orchestra. He had 17 pieces then, but to me and the two brothers i grew up with, it sounded like 50 at Howard Rumsey's World Famous Lighthouse. That was the night we got totally hooked on Jazz and the Lighthouse. we were low riding in a 1963 chevy, and almost every weekend we layed that chevy down next to those shiney mercedes- benz and cadillacs. Gerald Wilson has and always will be a beautiful part of my youth. I'm soon to be 64 and he still sounds as new as that first night. Thanks Gerald for being a part of my life. God bless you.
