I hate to be the one to tell you that Rory died at the young age of 47, not 51 as stated in your article. He was born in '48. I was able to have Rory as a guest in my home/shop where i build my Omega Guitars hee in PA. He had run out from NYC with a mutual friend and I gave him a Maple/Sitka Grand concert acoustic as a gift before he left. Shortly after, aUPS truck barreled into my driveway and dropped off a box containing a well worn Strat as a gift in return from him.

It was a highlight of my life as both a guitarist and as a guitar builder. Even though he was obviously an electric blues guy, Rory flattered and humbled me by saying that the small bodies Maple GC spoke to him while he played it in my shop that day. He was a great guy and very humble and gracious to all he met.

    He's missed deeply.

    Thanks and regards,
    Kevin Gallagher/Omega Guitars
