Eddie Gale

By Published: October 14, 2003
Though Gale never put his horn down since the ‘70s, he hasn't recorded as a leader or sideman other than the few with Sun Ra, and the one session as leader ( A Minute with Miles on Mapleshade) and a handful of obscure independently released recordings on Gale's own Rooftop Records (which are hard to find other than via his website).

Gale has a strong desire for more regular visits, "My dream was always to live on the East and West Coasts. In the last two to three years, I've really been interested in performing more and traveling... My goal is to play and reach people."

With the momentum from his recent '03 appearance and an outpouring of recent releases, including a brand new recording on the way ( In Love Again ) - the trumpeter hopes that gigs in New York City will be a more common occurrence. "The whole scene has always been New York," realizes Gale.
